AV installation FAQ
Straight answers about pricing, timelines, and what to expect when you hire an installer in Charlotte — no sales pressure, just how the work actually goes.
Pricing & quotes
How much does home theater installation cost in Charlotte?
It depends on the room and how much is already in place. Labor for a TV mount and soundbar might be a few hundred dollars. A full dedicated theater — projection, Atmos speakers, rack, programming — commonly lands between $8,000 and $40,000+ all-in when you include equipment.
We break out labor, wire, mounts, and gear on every quote so you can see where the money goes. Read our home theater cost guide for typical tiers.
Do you charge for consultations?
Initial phone or email triage is free. On-site consultations for larger projects (theater rooms, whole-home audio, new construction pre-wire) may include a site-visit fee that credits toward the project if you move forward — we'll tell you upfront before scheduling.
Do you sell equipment or only install?
KEVTEK AV is an installation and integration company. We source gear for your project as part of the quote. For walk-in audiophile retail and listening appointments, visit Hifi Guy NC — a separate business with its own showroom catalog.

How long does TV mounting take?
Simple mounts: 1–2 hours. Add time for in-wall wire concealment, fireplace stone anchors, or pairing a surround system. We never rush stud finding or wire fishing — that's what keeps the TV on the wall for years.
Can you hide wires in the wall?
Usually, yes. We use UL-rated in-wall HDMI and power solutions where code allows. Brick, stone, and metal-stud condos sometimes need surface raceway instead — we'll show you options during the walkthrough. See our wire-hiding guide.
Do I need Dolby Atmos?
Not every room benefits from ceiling speakers. Atmos shines in dedicated theaters and vaulted great rooms where you can place height channels correctly. For smaller dens, a quality 5.1 or 5.1.2 layout often sounds better than forcing Atmos where ceiling bounce is awkward.
Can you fix a system someone else installed?
Yes — remotes that stopped working, HDMI handshakes, Wi-Fi dropouts on streamers, and "one input only" receiver issues are common service calls. We'll diagnose before quoting rework.
Scheduling & service area
What areas do you serve?
Charlotte and the greater metro — Matthews, Ballantyne, SouthPark, Huntersville, Lake Norman, Fort Mill, Waxhaw, and more. See the full service area list.
How soon can you start?
Smaller jobs often schedule within 1–2 weeks. Theater rooms and pre-wire during construction align with your builder's timeline. Peak season (spring and pre-holiday) books further out — earlier consults help lock dates.
Are you licensed and insured?
We carry liability insurance for in-home work. Low-voltage AV integration doesn't always require the same trade license as electrical in NC — we pull permits when a project requires it and coordinate with licensed electricians for high-voltage rough-in when needed.
Do you offer ongoing support?
Every project includes a walkthrough so you know how to use the system. After that, we're available for service calls, firmware updates, and adding sources (new Apple TV, gaming console, etc.) on an hourly or flat-rate basis.
